Second visit of the week to Abdur at Fife Physiotherapy Centre …. that man likes to torture! …. but in all seriousness after just two visits I am already feeling the benefits of his hard work.

He has told me that he has years of tightened muscles to fight in my leg and that it may be painful for me (it is!) … He is also working on my back as the muscles from the shoulder blades down are far too tight because they  are compensating for my limp!

For the first time in a lot of years I can walk and stand on the whole of my left foot and not just the ball … but he did point out to me that now, by habit, I am still tending to weight bear on my right … so I have to change my thinking a bit on that!

As far as my back goes, I can now move freely … I still have some discomfort in my hips but that is due to my arthritis so he won’t be able to do much with that … but I am hoping that after a few more sessions I can walk normally and for a reasonable distance again.

After all these years of being so fed up because nothing seemed to work, and just being plied painkillers, I honestly think I may have found a solution in this amazing man!

I fly down to Gatwick later today for a few days with Linda … she is going to be stunned at how well I am walking! I may even do a little trot towards her!

(then again …… maybe not!)

Happy face …

I love this photo of my wee Sprout! …. it was taken at the Mutt Hutt in Glenrothes, where she goes on a Saturday for an hours play with other dogs.  She will miss it this week coming as I am off down south to see Linda for a few days and Sprout is going to her uncle Barry’s and Neil’s for a wee holiday!

When my old dog Brae died, I really didn’t think I could ever love another dog so much, but this wee cheeky soul has wormed her way into my heart.  Her name Sprout really suits her … she is cheeky and full of happiness at the smallest of things (although she does murder any stuffed toy within 2 minutes of getting it!).

I will miss my wee girl when I am away … although it will be nice to have a rest from making my bed at least half a dozen times a day!

After a few really bad episodes with my back and leg, I decided to stop relying on my doctor and take matters into my own hands.

Today I started physio with Abdur at the Fife Physiotherapy Centre … it was a very interesting hour… Abdur studied the way I walked and stood and where the main areas of pain are.  He also examined my legs to try to understand why I cannot straighten my left leg when I lie down, and have limited side movement in it too.

It seems I have 2 separate issues, but both are related.   He feels the main problem is not my osteoarthritis of the hips, but the tightness I have in my leg… my hamstring is far too tight and the knock on effect is that I limp, causing the muscles in my back to tighten and cause sciatica.

Today he massaged my back to loosen the muscles, it was bloody sore! (and yes I did utter the word “fuck” a few times!)  … but at least he prewarned me! … and I have to go back on Thursday for him to start working on my left leg…  I hope it doesn’t hurt too much as I am flying down to see Linda in the afternoon!

The amazing thing is, that even after just an hour, I was walking much better … and no longer standing with all my weight on my right leg and resting just the ball of my left foot on the ground.

I am hoping that, after all these years, I may have found someone who realises that it is not JUST my leg or not JUST my back causing me problems …

I may run a 10k yet!! (ok ok… perhaps I’m kidding on that one!)

The change in my life since meeting Linda is unbelievable… we had a great 10 days together, culminating in a 2 night Lodge stay at Loch Goil. Next weekend I’m off down south for 5 days at Linda’s, which will include a trip to London to see Motown, followed by a meal at a secret location because she wants to surprise me!…. we then have a weekend booked at Glencoe House at the end of the month… a weekend at a spa hotel in Grantham while I take avow renewal for one of my army pals and her hubby… then a weekend with friends at pods at Loch Katrine!…. in April we are spending a week at her timeshare in Madeira and in October 2019, a weeks cruise around the Med with Olivia lesbian cruises!!! I can’t really believe the change in my life… not only have I met the most perfect woman… but all she wants to do is spoil me… I am struggling with that aspect a little… I just buy wee things for her… but she appreciates everything and me… for that I am so grateful!! Life is good.

As I look back ….

My lovely Linda has decided to treat us to a two night stay up at Glencoe … she has booked the most fabulous suite at Glencoe House, complete with hot tub!

What is so amazing is that Glencoe House is right next to the Lochan … my most favourite place in the whole world and where I want my ashes to be scattered (although hopefully not in the near future!)..

I am stunned at her kindness and thoughtfulness … I already knew she was wonderful, now I know she is wonderfully wonderful!!… I cannot believe how lucky I am.

A rare breed…

It’s funny how life turns around …

The past month has all been a bit of  a whirlwind really … from feeling very frustrated with the carry on about Alice Alice and still recovering from the crap my ex told me about why we broke up …. I suddenly find myself in a completely different place.

Alice Alice is roadworthy (and didn’t cost me a penny!) … and I have the most wonderful new woman in my life.

Life has completely turned around … and I have met a woman who is just perfect for me … and more than I ever dreamed of.

I have learned  a lot this year … firstly that nagging really does work! … although I do believe it was the threat of going up to the garage, parking outside and organising a demonstration that made it happen (and I would have done that!)…. to never trusting anyone who lies by omission …. looking back … I put up with too much crap and gave too many chances … but it was my choice .. and I only have myself to blame…. but at least I learned from it.

This new romance will be a whole new learning curve … we come from different worlds really … and I just hope I don’t disappoint.
