Wedding bells!

What a lovely evening at the reception for Anne and Paul last night… Anne was truly a beautiful bride and Paul a handsome groom!

You always learn…

Ros is a knitter… in fact Ros is very crafty (in a good way). She is trying (and failing!) to teach me how to knit… I can’t even get the casting on right!!

Today we had a lovely walk on the Cumbrian coast before visiting a specialist wool and craft shop in Caldbeck (just up the road from the site we are on). We are even planning a trip down to the wool and craft show next year… even though I was walking around the shop gobsmacked at the price of some of the wool!!

Tonight the weather is really bad… but we are warm and cosy in the van… Ros is knitting away… quite happy with the world… me… well I don’t want to burst her bubble by telling her I think the awning may be blown off!

Tomorrow I should find out when I get my xtrail back… the RAC have given me a wee Citroen to use… I bloody hate it…. but as long as I get my car back by Thursday, all will be well… I have a wedding reception to go to on Friday!!

Doomed!!

Last year I didn’t make LFest due to problems with my Motorhome… but this year Ros and I happily set off… until warning lights appeared on my Dashboard….”

The alternator that was replaced by Western Nissan last week (and 2nd new battery in a fortnight!) failed yet again! They can’t give me a car with a tow bar and so we are stuffed!

Managed to get booked into a site in Cumbria and car is now with Nissan in Carlisle.

Nissan has no cars to loan to me, but once again the RAC came up trumps… at least we are mobile.

I am awaiting the report from Carlisle before taking this further… so far Nissan owe me £266 for the battery I had to pay for… (car is under warranty), £240 for the LFest tickets and £110 for the campsite I am now stuck at!

No doubt I will have a battle on my hands still… but if they think I am some weak willed pathetic woman… they are seriously in for a shock! I have a good wee solicitor who is equally as determined as me.

In your lifetime

At last (after 2 weeks!) I am back swimming again, I still have a trapped nerve in my neck, but it is less painful and annoying now!

Today Ros and I washed and polished the caravan (Ros up the ladder and me underneath it keeping it steady and getting soaked!)… we are all ready for our wee holiday down to LFest at Llandudno, followed by a couple of days chilling time in Cumbria.

I have my car back and now I the middle of wills with Nissan. I won’t lose this battle…. car was under warranty and Nissan forgot to update their records with my personal plate… butare now trying to pass the buck to the RAC!!! It wasn’t their fault… and they were bloody fabulous!…. bring it on Nissan… remember wee midgies can be terrible enemies!!

Tonight we are chilling…. last night we sat up chatting till 4.30am…. no wonder we are tired!!

Everything that you love, you will eventually lose.

Franz Kafka, the story goes, encountered a little girl in the park where he went walking daily. She was crying. She had lost her doll and was desolate.

Kafka offered to help her look for the doll and arranged to meet her the next day at the same spot.

Unable to find the doll he composed a letter from the doll and read it to her when they met.

‘Please do not mourn me, I have gone on a trip to see the world. I will write you of my adventures.’

This was the beginning of many letters. When he and the little girl met he read her from these carefully composed letters the imagined adventures of the beloved doll. The little girl was comforted.

When the meetings came to an end Kafka presented her with a doll. She obviously looked different from the original doll. An attached letter explained ‘My travels have changed me.’

Many years later, the now grown girl found a letter stuffed into an unnoticed crevice in the cherished replacement doll.

In summary it said:

*Every thing that you love, you will eventually lose, but in the end, love will return in a different form.’*

– Kafka and the Doll, The Pervasiveness of Loss

A wedding and a walk!

It’s been a lovely weekend down at Acrum… weather has been great and the wedding I took at Rubislaw was lovely… it’s a lovely place.

Today was a day of chilling out… we had a lovely walk in Harestanes followed by a lovely lunch in Roxburgh. We are all pretty tired now!

A busy life!

I have been so busy lately (not just with work!) that I haven’t had a minute to play on my blog!

Things have begun to settle down… Ros is all moved into her new flat and it’s looking fabulous… the balcony with views over the Forth is my normal lurking place!

We have spent the last few days sorting out my garden and summerhouse… paint has been more on me and the dog though! But it’s looking fab now!

All done before we head off to Hawick this weekend and then Llandudno for LFest, followed by a couple of nights at the lakes!…

I’ve had a bit of bother with my neck and shoulder for the past month… so eventually took Ros’s nagging to heart and went to the docs… turns out I have a trapped nerve in my neck … but the good news is that it hasn’t anything to do with my swimming!! So back in the pool tomorrow…
